ABOUT
Jenny Simpson
If you find yourself between two points: your past and your desired future, you may feel stuck.
If you are hoping to gain self-compassion and strengthen resilience I want to work with you.
Public Sector Experience
For over 20 years I have worked in public service; as a youth worker, high school teacher, school counsellor and addiction support worker. In 2019 I completed my MA in Counselling and began my counselling practice, Liminal Space Counselling.
Outside of my counselling practice, I volunteer with Rainbow Refugee Society, at my community gardens and my dog and I enjoy exploring nature as often as possible.
My Practice
I work with individuals, couples and conduct group counselling. LGBTQ+ folks and diverse couples welcome.
LIMINAL SPACE COUNSELLING
About My Practice
Problems exist, but they don’t define us. Counselling can help us navigate our personal narratives and emerge with a new understanding of ourselves.
SAFE SPACE
Counselling must provide a safe space for clients’ stories.
This is important and it demands attention and protection.
DIVERSITY OF PRACTICE
I have experience with individuals, young adults, couples (monogamous, polyamorous), LGBTQ, families, children and adolescents.
I provide EMDR sessions as well as therapeutic conversations.
THERAPEUTIC MODELS
EMDR, IFS, CBT, Mindfulness, Self-Compassion and Narrative
In my training I have focused on Trauma, Post-Traumatic Growth and Narrative Therapy.
Some inspiring teachers that inform my practice are: Pema Chodron, Tara Brach, Gabor Mate, Vikki Reynolds, Michael White, Marsha Linehan, Oren J Sofer, Kristen Neff , Brene Brown and Peter Levine.
SELF-COMPASSION GROUP OFFERINGS
For this group, offered a few times per year, I use the work of Pema Chodron, Tara Brach and Kristin Neff as models.
